Shamim obtained her B.Sc in Physiotherapy degree through the University of Durban Westville in 1988. She completed her Master of Medical Science – majoring in Sports Medicine in 2000 at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine.
Shamim has been involved in sporting events both locally and internationally. She was part of the medical team for the All Africa Games (Zimbabwe -1995, Johannesburg -1999); Commonwealth Games (Malaysia – 1998, Manchester – 2002); team physiotherapist for the South African women’s hockey team (1999- 2000) and the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 amongst others.
Shamim worked at Wentworth and King Edward hospitals before establishing her practice. She established her practice in 1994, managing patients in and around the Glenwood area, as well as at St Augustine’s and Entabeni hospitals. Her passion for quality of care and management of her patients, has been followed through with each physiotherapist that has joined her practice.
